FIFA's deadline expires today

There are very strong indications that Sports Minister Tammy Danagogo may waive off the impending FIFA hammer that looms over Nigerian football by midnight today if Chris Giwa refuses to vacate office by midnight.

The World soccer-ruling body, through a letter signed by Jerome Valcke,  had warned that Giwa-led executive should vacate office by midnight of September 1 if Nigeria do not want to risk a ban.

*''We will not recognise the outcome of the Giwa elections and should there still be persons claiming to have been elected and occupying the NFF offices at midnight on Monday September 1 2014, we will bring the case to the appropriate FIFA body for sanctions which may include the suspension of the NNF, the FIFA letter read.

Tamuno Danagogo, Sepp Blatter and Aminu Maigari
*Though Chris Giwa remains resolute to see out his mandate which he described as an act of God, Sports Vanguard gathered that Sports Minister Tammy Danagogo may play the joker by telling him to tarry and try out his luck in the elections of September 4 which FIFA  and all stakeholders say remains  the only genuine election to the various offices of the Nigeria Football Federation.

*Erstwhile NFF President, Aminu Maigari, we gathered may not stand for re-election as the race to the Glass House would be between Shehu Dikko, Chris Giwa, Delta FA Chairman, Melvin Amaju Pinnick and Mainasara Iloh.

Pinnick's entry into the race may also bring about peace to the troubled football house as many stakeholders have been clamouring for a candidate with proven track records. Amaju had indeed got sponsors to scramble for all programs of the Delta FA without resorting for money from the State Government unlike other state FAs.
