Launching of National Sports Festival postponed

Accra, June 9, GNA - The launching of the National Sports Festival, which was scheduled for Wednesday June 9, has been postponed following the death of an official of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Mr Albert Agbozo, Acting Chief Executive of the National Sports Council (NSC) who disclosed this at a press conference said, "Ladies and gentlemen I'm sorry the function cannot come on due to the death of Mr Sammy Ashie, Deputy Chief Sports Organiser at the Ministry".

He said the news of the death of Mr Ashie hit the entire ministry and the NSC so hard that, the honourable Minister of State, Alhaji Rashid Bawa has called for the postponement of the launching to a later date. The Acting Chief Executive apologised on behalf of the Minister and said a new date will be announced for the launching.

The National Sports Festival is scheduled to take place between 13-20 of June.
