Asantehene donates 20 million cedis to King Faisal

Kumasi, June.4, GNA - The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, has donated 20 million cedis to King Faisal football club as bonus for winning the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Coca-Cola Top Four Competition last year.

This was when the club's executive and the playing body had presented the trophy to him at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi on Friday. The Asantehene congratulated the team for winning the coveted trophy and paid special tribute to Alhaji Karim Grusah, the Executive Chairman of the club for his dedication, organisational and training expertise for footballers and sports enthusiasts.

He said this is manifested in Alhaji Grusah's involvement at the build up of young boys from the colts level up to the senior levels and his plans and initiatives in producing top players to the senior team and added that he hoped that God will give more years to continue to help with sports promotion in the country.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu said he is for all football clubs in the country and stressed the need for all clubs to unite and help with sports development in the country, adding, "whatever glory any team achieves is for all of us".

Alhaji Grusah thanked the Asantehene for his honourable gesture and advice and said that the Cup won by the club could not have gone to any other place first without being shown to he the Otumfouo since he has been the brain behind the success of the club. He called for Asantehene's continued support and prayers for the club to enable it win more laurels both at home and at the international levels.

Among the directors and executives present were Mr George Amoako, Administrative Manager of the club, Alhaji Ahmed Awura, Operations Manager, Alhaji Kamel Mohammed, Vice-Chairman and coach Bahner Seigfried.
