Stadium models for 2008 to be unveiled

Accra, June 4, GNA - The CAN 2008 Bid Committee will on Tuesday, June 8, unveil models of three of its four stadia at a ceremony in Accra. The unveiling ceremony is to show case the two 20,000 seater capacity stadia for Sekondi/Takoradi and Tamale and the projected upgrading of some facilities at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The occasion also forms part of the preparations being made by the Committee ahead of the planned official visit of the inspection team of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) who are scheduled to arrive in Ghana on Thursday, June 8.

According to Mr Rex Magnus Danquah, Co-ordinating Director of the Committee, the unveiling ceremony is part of the bidding process as the nation gears up to win the hosting right of the CAN 2008 competition.

The race for the hosting of the competition is now between Ghana and Libya after the withdrawal of South Africa who got the nod for the hosting of the 2010 World Cup.
