JUL 16, 2014 LISTEN

With the FIFA World Cup now out of the way, the countdown has begun to the 2014 edition of the MTN FA Cup awards scheduled for August 9.

The awards for best player, best coach, top scorer, highest scoring team, fair play, best referee, best supporting fans and others are expected to be handed out at the 4th edition of the awards following the victory of league champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko over Inter Allies in June's final.

The FA Cup Committee will soon announce the names of nominee and details of the itinerary ahead of the event next month.

But smiling all the time and can't wait for awards night is Elvis Opoku of Division One League side, Bibiani Gold Stars who emerged goal king after scoring seven goals in his side's surprise run to the last 16 including a shocking 2-1 win over record winners, Hearts of oak in the round of 64.

Opoku emerged with a total of three goals clear of Mubarik Mohammed of Starke FC, Ghana Premier league goalking Augustine Okrah and Suleyman Yahaya of Tema United who all netted 4 goals apiece.
