Oguaa holds Inter-Circuit athletics competition

Cape Coast, May 24, GNA - Bakaano Educational Circuit dominated both the boys and girls Basic Schools "Under 15" athletics championship to bag 255 and a half points to lift the championship trophy in the Cape Coast Municipal Inter- Circuit athletics competition held at the Adisadel College sports grounds at the week-end.

Pedu/Abura education Circuit came second with 162 and a half points followed by Aboom Circuit with 147 points, Ola Circuit placed fourth with 140 points with Cape Coast Circuit coming fifth with 136 points and Efutu Circuit coming last with 65 points.

In the boys division, Bakaano took the first position with 138 points, Aboom came second with 90 points followed by Cape Coast with 84 points, Pedu/Abura placed fourth with 79 points with Ola coming fifth with 60 points and followed by Efutu with 20 points.

In the girls division, Bakaano Circuit again came tops with 117 and a half points followed by Pedu/Abura with 83 and a half points, Ola Circuit came third with 80 points with Aboom placing fourth with 57 points and followed by Cape Coast and Efutu Circuits with 52 and 45 points respectively to place fifth and sixth.

In the soccer and netball contests, Pedu/Abura Circuit emerged the champions while Cape Coast Circuit won the volleyball championship trophy in both the boys and girls divisions.

Ms.Veronica Fry Annan, Municipal Director of Education congratulated the teachers and physical education organisers for contributing in divers ways to make the games a success.

She called on the sports boys and girls who will be selected to represent Central Region in the forthcoming sports festival at Swedru to be disciplined and to train harder to bring laurels to the region. 24 May 04
