Kalai wins Achimota Medqa l golf

Accra, May 16, GNA-Emmanuel Kalai and Mona Captan on Saturday, won the Achimota Golf Club May Monthly Medal competition played at Achimota in Accra. Kalai beat Nick Smallman on count-back after they had both returned 70 net to win the Men's event while Mona also defeated Beatrice Vetsche-Bempong on count-back in a net score of 73 to emerge champion in the Ladies category.

Jonas Koffie placed third with 72 net in the Men's event while Francisca Vandyck took the third position with 72net. The one-day 18-Hole Stableford competition, which was sponsored by Sam's Cottage Hotel, attracted about 100 participants. Mr Samuel Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club praised the hotel for their contributions to the development of the sport. He said the irrigation work currently being undertaken by the club on the Course would soon be completed

Mr Adetola said the Club would play a Nigeria side in October this year as part of their training programmes lined up for the year. He asked the members to submit an article on the game of sport to be published in the club's magazine when launched next month. Mr Paul Anim Chief Executive of Sam's Cottage Hotel gave the assurance that the hotel would continue to contribute to the development of the sport in the ensuing years.
