Winneba, May 13, GNA - A concerned citizen of Wassa Abrokyiri-Krobo in the Western Region has made a passionate appeal to the Government to help resolve the long-standing dispute between leaders of the town to ensure development.

Barimah Badu was speaking at a meeting with Wassa Abrokyiri-Krobo citizens resident at Winneba in the Central Region on Tuesday to deliberate on issues bothering the socio economic improvement of the town.

Barima Badu regretted that due to the outstanding dispute between the former chief of the town, Nana Appiahkwaw Bayooman, and Nana Yaa Dentaah, II, queenmother of the town, development of the community had virtually come to a standstill for the past four years.

He said the most disturbing aspect of the impasse was that one of the leaders of the disputed factions had allegedly cautioned members of the unit committee, which was inaugurated about three years ago not to operate in the town.

According to Barimah Badu, the action of the leader had put fear into the committee and this had woefully impeded the implementation of self-help projects initiated by the committee and other stakeholders of the town.

He has therefore made a passionate appeal to the government to ensure that the problem between the factions was resolved to bring unity among them, which the people needed to develop the town.

For a start, Barimah Badu called on the district chief executive, Mr Albert Takyi and the Omanhene of the area to use their good offices to ensure amicable resolution of the impasse.
