Kumasi, May 13, GNA - Eight clubs from the Ashanti Region are to participate in a women's football gala at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Saturday, May 14.
The clubs are Ash-Town Ladies, Washington View, Fabulous Ladies, Madonna Ladies, Goldfields Ladies, Missiles Ladies, Ghatel Ladies and Oforikrom Ladies.
The competition, being organised by the Ashanti Region Women's Soccer Committee, is to prepare the clubs for this year's women's soccer league in the region.
Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi, Madam Cecilia Anane, Chairperson of the committee appealed to corporate organisation to assist the committee with the needed sponsorship to lift up women's soccer in the region.
She regretted that due to financial problems, Cosmos Ladies of Asante-Bekwai and Fire Ladies of Kumasi could not participate in last year's league and hoped the women's clubs will be given the needed financial push this season to sustain the game of soccer among ladies in the region. 13 May 04
