Tema, May 04, GNA - A 25-year-old man who claimed to be a footballer has been remanded into custody by the Tema Circuit Court "A" on a charge of attempted robbery on a hairdresser at Community Three. The plea of Isaac Sekyi Ntie was not taken and will re-appear on May 27, 2004.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Mary Assunta told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on April 15, 2004 at about 2:15 pm after transacting her business at the Tema port, a hairdresser Ms Juliana Amoah went to Community Three.

On her way to the Community Three junction on foot to board a vehicle to Accra, the accused accosted her from the bush and demanded for her handbag at gunpoint.

Chief Inspector Assunta said the hairdresser refused to release her bag and therefore struggled with the accused till they fell into a gutter. It was at this stage that the accused saw people approaching and he took to his heels. He was pursued and arrested at Community Two and sent to the police station, after investigations he was charged. 04 May 04
