The chairman of CAN 2008 Ghana Bid Committee Dr. Kofi Amoah has reiterated government's plan to build two new stadiums and a games village to improve the quality of sports in the country.

According to him, one stadium would be cited at Tamale in the Northern Region and the other one at Sekondi-Takoradi in the western Rgion, he said major features of the new stadiums include an all-seated capacity of 20,000. state-of -the - art press centre and broadcasting commentary boxes, on-site satelite up-linking infrustructure, standby power supply facilities for minimum TV cameras among others.

Dr. Amoah made the statement when he addressed pressmen at a function organised by the Bid Committee to brief them on the bidding process.Answering a question from the ADM on when works on the proposed new stadiums would be gin, Dr. Amoah could not give specific date but said "very soon". A sod would have to be cut for the commencement of the projects but "we have to make sure everything is put in order before, including the legalities for lands acquired for the projects" He cited that the proposed Sekondi-Takoradi stadium for example, had a mosque on it and will only demolish it after putting up a new one somewhere for for his owners.

Dr. Amoah again said the designs for the new stadia are going to be modern and multy faceted and will incorporate concessions to selling food items and drinks. He noted that there will be provision made for corporate lodges to meet the various needs of participants.
