Appiah To Go Unopposed?

13.04.2004 LISTEN
By Space FM

The Chairman of Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Mr. J.Y. Appiah has repeatedly told the probing press that he would not contest again at the end of his second term, but painstaking investigation by Space Fm, has revealed that he would go for a third term.

A source close to the corridors of GHALCA hinted SPACE FM that most of the members are putting unbearable pressure on the incumbent chairman to go for a third term as a result of what they described as his immeasurable contribution to the development of the Association. No other name has come up at the time of writing this piece.

The GHALCA Constitution allows individuals to hold the chairmanship position for three terms with each term lasting three years. The second term of Mr. Appiah would come to an end during GHALCA congress.

On the contrary, the vice chairmanship position seems to be attracting more contenders. Alhaji Karim Grunsah (Insha Alahu) for instance has never hidden his intention to contest for the position. Other names that have come up include Kwasi Nyantakyi, Fred Pappoe, and Maxwell Addo of Hearts of Oak.
