Black Stars defender has been named in Bayern Munich's 25 man squad for a swiftly arranged friendly against an All Star XI drawn from the Qatar professional league. Bayern will travel to Qatar tomorrow, Monday, 5 April 2004.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß fixed up the match on Wednesday after a meeting with QSi, the Qatar National Olympic Committee's sports business organisation. The Munich club will be guests of his Excellency Sheikh Tamim Al Thani, Crown Prince of Qatar and President of the NOC.
The friendly appears on a programme of events in Qatar's "Week of Activities" which also includes conferences and a trade fair. The match takes place on Tuesday 6 April at 7:00pm local time (6:00pm CET) at the 25,000 capacity All Rayyan stadium in Doha.
Bayern's opponents are an All Star XI from Qatar's Q-League, including former Munich idols Mario Basler and Stefan Effenberg, Fernando Hierro, once of Real Madrid, Argentine strikers Gabriel Batistuta and Claudio Caniggia and Frank Leboeuf of France. The All-Stars will be coached by German legend Wolfgang Sidka.
