Sports News Preview: Ghanaian players abroad
FEB 14, 2014 LISTEN

Michael Essien made a disappointing debut for AC Milan last week. Jordan Ayew is getting the games but lacking the goals. Abdul Majeed Waris can't stop scoring at his new club. Emmanuel Frimpong returns to the game after receiving a red card in his first Championship game for Barnsley.

Another week of Ghanaian players battling it out for the 23 or so spots available for a ticket to represent Ghana in Brazil come June is on. The national team head coach, Kwesi Appiah's resounding warning of 'no games not call-up' will also be reverberating in the ears of the players at their professional clubs when their respective team sheets are being announced.

Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien will be in action on Friday night to begin an action packed football weekend. Richmond Boakye-Yiadom will also aim for a spot in the Elche squad on the same night.

Jordan Ayew will continue his search for a goal for new club Sochaux in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday when his side entertains Guingamp. Christian Atsu with his excellent performances this season in the Netherlands league will most likely retain his spot in the Vitesse Arnhem starting XI when they play FC Twente away on Saturday.

Kwadwo Asamoah and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu will be in action in the Italian Serie A on Sunday with Raman Chibsah also representing Sassuolo in the same league.

A return for Andre Ayew may be imminent but Marseille's game against Saint Etienne might come too soon on Sunday while Jonathan Mensah will also miss Evian's game due to suspension.
