Black Stars slip in Fifa rankings

Despite a good showing at the CAF African Nations Championship where Ghana won silver, the Black Stars 13 places down the FIFA ranking table.

Ghana, who started off the year at 24th, are now ranked 37th in the February edition of the world rankings released on Thursday.

The February rankings took into account the African Nations Championship, a tournament for only players who play in the national championships in their respective countries are eligible to participate.

The Black Stars suffered a point loss of 118 as they now have 733 points.

Ghana have slipped to fourth from the second position it held previously on the continental ranking table. Ivory Coast are still in the lead followed by Algeria and now Cape Verde.

World champions, Spain are still number one as Germany remain in second with Argentina in third.

In total, 55 internationals were taken into account.
