NATIONAL WOMEN'S LEAGUE PREPARES FOR SECOND ROUND

The second round of the 2013/2014 edition of the National Women's League commences this February. It begins on the weekend of 24th and 25th February 2014. The league which has seen an electrifying first round resumes for the week 6 games in the southern sector with Lady Strikers trying to avert their 2-3 defeat to Champions Hasaacas Ladies, whiles winless Ayoola Ladies will be home to Immigration Ladies after losing 0-1 in the reverse fixture. It will be revenge for Soccer Intellectuals, who suffered a 0-3 away lost to undefeated Police Ladies when both teams met in the Southern Sector. Meanwhile, the fight for the top spot continues in the Northern sector as both Fabulous Ladies and Ashtown Ladies are tied on the same point buildup of 11, with Fabulous Ladies still keeping their clean sheet in the league. Both teams open their second round campaign with the chase for the top spot after their week 5 game ended in goalless. Other fixtures in the northern sector will see 4th place Ampem Darkoa Ladies host Oforikrm Ladies who lost their week 5 fixture by 2-5. Prison Ladies will keep their chase for the title as they come up against Sharp Arrows who they humiliated by 7 goals nil.

Police Ladies are making their debut appearance but been impressive in the Southern Sector winning four out of five matches with one draw, conceding just 2 goals and scoring 22, a feat which many have suggested can gradually make them Champions if they continue the second round in same form. Meanwhile Joseph Baja, Head coach of Immigration Ladies tells US fm he is optimistic of winning the League despite his side gathered only 5 points having won only 1 with two draws. "For now, I think we are behind, but we are not down; that is what i can say, because per my calculations, if we are able to win the first two matches, we can push for the trophy. I am hoping that all our strategies and plans will work for the second round. By the time we come back for the second round , you will see a different Immigration Ladies"

Hasaacas Ladies won the Maiden edition of the Women's league after beating Fabulous Ladies by 2 goals to 1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The winner of each Sector after 10 matches will meet to decide the Champion.
