CHAN 2014: Nigeria stun Morocco to make the semi-final
Nigerian provided the watching eyes of the African continent with a super display on Saturday afternoon when they played Morocco in the quarter-final of the 2014 African Nations Championship. The Super Eagles literally rose from a poor start to the game as they did in their group, coming back from three unanswered goals in the first half to score four and crown their day with a victory.
Nigeria and Morocco played the first half hour of the game with both teams not finding a way to open the score line. Morocco rose to the occasion to score three goals in seven minutes to enlighten the first game of the quarter-final stage of the 2014 African Nations Championship.
Mohsine Moutouali scored Morocco's first goal in the 33 rd minute before Iajour Mouhssine doubled the lead four minutes later. Moutouali grabbed his brace five minutes before the interval as Morocco took a three nil lead into the first half break.
Nigeria showed an intent of not giving up as confidence brought them within two goals of an equalizer when Ugonna Uzochukwu pulled one back just four minutes into the second half. Rabiu Ali scored Nigeria's second in the 56 th minute to give Stephen Keshi and his side hope of a semi-final in the completion. Ejike Uzoenyi gave the Nigerian spectators a great feeling of pleasure and delight as his 90 th minute goal secured extra time for the Super Eagles, completing on of the most incredible comebacks the tournament has ever seen.
