OCT 17, 2013 LISTEN

Sensational striker Abdul Majeed Waris, US based James C. Nortey and player-coach Isaac Addo captured the headlines with game changing goals and performances in the latest review of performances of Right to Dream's players in Ghana and abroad.

Right to Dream's professional players in Europe were not action this week due to the international break.

We start off in Ghana where graduate Abdul Majeed Waris underlined his importance to the national team with a goal and two assists as Ghana thrashed Egypt 6:1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Waris set up Asamoah Gyan for the opening goal before connecting home Sulley Muntari's cross. He was later fouled by the Egyptian goalie leading to the award of a penalty which was converted by Sulley Muntari.

The former RtD Academy captain has thus scored three consecutive headed goals for the Stars in the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers. Waris is the fifth RtD graduate to play for the national team.

Earlier in the week, player-coach Isaac Addo led the U-18s to qualify for the Ghana FA Cup, scoring two goals as they beat Sunderland FC 4:1 in the Eastern Region qualifiers.

Gareth Henderby's team came under intense pressure in the second half, having led 2:1 with goals by Richard Donkor and Divine Naah in the first 45 minutes. But Addo showed calm composure to put the game to bed and scored two goals moments after coming on as a substitute.

US College soccer:
James C. Nortey continued his good goal scoring form, scoring the game-winning goal as the Marquette University soccer team beat No.7 Creighton at Valley Fields. The goal marked Nortey's fourth game-winning goal in as many BIG EAST matches this season. The Golden Eagles remain the only undefeated team in the league

Graduate Bernard Abagali scored two goals and an assist as the Hobart College soccer team breezed to a 6-2 victory over host Nazareth in a non-league match

Isaac Normesinu scored in the 83rd minute to try and mount a comeback, but the Boston College soccer team lost 1:2 to North Carolina at the Newton Campus Field. It was Normesinu's second goal of the season.

Oscar Umar played the entire game in Villanova University's 2-0 victory over No. 22 St. John's in a BIG EAST match played at the Villanova Soccer Complex. Oscar Umar, who played at right back, was very effective on the outside.

Substitute Nana Akyen scored the consolation goal in Westmont Men's Soccer team's 1:4 loss to Golden State Athletic Conference adversary No. 8 Biola in La Mirada. Akyen came in for the Warriors in the 58th minute and scored his third goal of the year from 15 yards.

Lastly, Theo Quartey and Daniel Amo scored a goal each as Salisbury School thrashed Westminster School 3:0. Theo Quartey joined the High School team not too long ago from RtD and has quickly settled into his new team.

Note: RtD has 28 graduates in High Schools, Colleges and Universities in the USA and the UK as well as over 15 professional players in Ghana and Europe.
