Ghanaian striker Abdul Basit Adam steered his South African club Free State Stars to reach the Telkom Knockout last-eight when he scored in their 2-0 defeat of AmaZulu on Saturday.

Ea Lla Koto advanced courtesy of second-half goals from Danny Venter and Abdul Basit Adam at Goble Park Stadium with their Ghanaian goalkeeper Daniel Agyei in good form.

The Ghanaian attacker's effort helped Free State Stars to join Golden Arrows and SuperSport United in the next round of the competition.

Stars goalkeeper Daniel Agyei made his first real save of the match in the 83rd minute, diving low to his right to block a solid strike from substitute Sthembiso Ngcobo.

The hosts then doubled their lead three minutes later through a well-taken goal from Adam, who beat Kapini with a dipping volley from outside the box.

Adam turned his marker in the 85th before slapping his shot past the goalkeeper to confirm the result.
