Zambia claim Ghanaians are afraid

Former Zambia star defender Elijah Tana claims the Black Stars are scared of the Chipolopolos ahead of their deadly 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi on Friday.

The Chipolopolos must beat Ghana at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi or will miss out on a ticket to Brazil.

The Southern Africans have been trading words with the West African giants with the Zambian Football Federation reporting Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng to FIFA and asking for a venue shift.

Ghana have vowed to end the Zambians thirty year dominance by handing down a heavy defeat with Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah naming a star-studded side that features Kevin-Prince Boateng, Michael Essien and Andre Ayew for the clash.

But Tana, who earned his name with the Chipolopolos two decades ago claims Ghanaians are already scared of their opponents.

“Boateng's comments shows that Ghana was scared so it [they were] threatening the Zambian team so that it puts fear in the players,” he told postzambia.com.

The Zambian government has called for inter-denominational prayers for the Chipolopolos as they travel down to Accra before enplaning to Kumasi.

Zambian Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili says the government will seek the support of mining firms in Solwezi to charter planes for fans to cheer the national soccer team against Ghana in Kumasi.
