Ambassador Kabral Blay Amihere has urged the government to help fund the four Ghanaian clubs that will be embarking on African campaigns.

Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea will be making returns in the next edition of the CAF Champions League haven placed first and second respectively in the Ghanaian top flight.

Medeama SC and Ebusua Dwarfs on the other hand will represent Ghana in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Ghanaian teams have however been unable to compete favourably in Africa owing their plight mainly to lack of adequate funds.

And as another African campaign beckon for qualified Ghanaian teams, age old debate of club funding has been resurrected.

Ambassador Amihere who is a board member of Asante Kotoko has now joined the chorus of people calling for some financial support from the state.

“I want to urge government make special investments to the four teams that have qualified for Africa so that they can compete well to promote Ghana well,” he said at the Ghana FA's MTN FA Cup awards.

“They should not wait for these teams to send an SOS like New Edubiase did last season before they could travel to play their match.”
