The Black Satellites yesterday finally recorded their first victory in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, mauling the USA 4-1 to stand the slim chance of advancing to the next stage of the competition.

Ghana broke the deadlock in the first half and quickly added another goal after the break, but they allowed the Americans to reduce the deficit before scoring two more goals. The vital victory gives Ghana three points after three games.

Fighting like wounded lions, the Black Satellites bombarded the Americans, which finally resulted in a goal by Frank Acheampong in the 38 th  minute.

After the break, the Satellites sustained the pressure on the Americans and they increased their lead when Assifuah beautifully curled the ball into the right hand corner of the post.

The Black Satellites were denied another goal and this proved suicidal for the Ghanaians.

But Oneill connected perfectly with a header.
Coach Sellas Tetteh quickly replaced Francis Moses Odjer with Boakye Yiadom with Francis Narh and Kennedy Ashia and the substitution paid off.

Assifuah scored his second and Ghana's third goal on the night when he perfectly headed the ball through the legs of the USA keeper into the net from a corner kick to excite Ghanaian fans at the stadium.

Substitute Ashia added Ghana's fourth goal when he scored from close range after near misses by other attackers of the Satellites.

Ghana, with the important victory, would now wait to see if they could advance to the next stage as one of the best third-placed teams in the competition.
