Algeria withdraws from the CHAN 2014 playoffs.
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has announced on its website that it had decided to withdraw its team A from the 'qualifications to CHAN. The final phase of CHAN held in South Africa from January 11 to February 1.
According to the FAF, such a decision was taken because Algeria cannot present a competitive team to face Libya. The local Fennecs should welcome the Knights of the Mediterranean on June 23 before making a trip to Tripoli on July 5.
According to the Algerian Football website Dz, it appears that the decision was motivated by the very limited security conditions in Tripoli, the FAF did not want to take risks by sending its team to evolve in such a tense situation.
