Hearts Kick Out 32 Players

Thirty-two players of former African Champions, Accra Hearts of Oak begin the New Year in search of new clubs after the Interim Management Committee of the Phobians blacklisted them from the team.

The decision is the first major one to be made by the Interim Management Committee of the club since assuming office barely a week ago.

The affected players include Edmund Copson, Charles Allotey, Joe Ansah and a host of others who enjoyed little playing time last season. Only 25 on the tall list of players of the team have been retained.

Myjoyonline sources claim that the decision to dispense with the services of the players is in line with its objective of redirecting the focus of the club and reduce the wage bill.

The mass transfer of these players is also expected to give head coach Herbert Addo the opportunity to work with a limited number of players for the coming season’s league and African Champions league competitions.

Hearts of Oak, according to the Myjoyonline sources, would not be embarking on a mass signing of players to fill the up the spaces of the affected players but hope to put up a good squad for both the domestic league and the African Champions League.

The Public Relations Officer of Hearts of Oak, Randy Abbey in an interview with Myjoyonline says the new IMC has the expertise to restructure the club.

The Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak on the eve of Christmas, appointed an eight-man Interim Management Committee to steer the affairs till the next congress of the club effectively relieving the Tommy Okine led-management of its duties.

The new IMC is composed of three members of the out-gone management team namely Clement Dodoo, Tommy Okine and Stephen Akwetey.

The five new members are Isaac Tetteh, Francis McCarthy, Nana Asabre, Alhaji Shaibu Bamba and Elliot Gordor.
