Kumasi, May 9, GNA - Defender Samuel Enzemaba has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer during Medeama's goalless drawn game with  Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

The Medeama defender was held at the Kumasi Central Police Station for allegedly head-butting an on duty  police officer after the tension-packed game.

A source at the Ashanti Regional Police Command told the GNA Sports Enzemaba assaulted the police officer  without any provocation, leading to his apprehension.

There was widespread chaos after both teams drew goalless in a mid-week Premiership duel which both teams required to win to strengthen their chances for the league title.

During the confusion, one police vehicle's windscreens was smashed in an alleged move by some supporters of Kotoko to lynch referee Silas Okai who suspected to be hiding in the vehicle having been shielded to safety by the police.

Okai had been compelled to ran for his dear life after the game when Kotoko fans pursued him, citing biased officiating. While others pelted him with sachet water, the police intervened and whisk him to safety; a move that infuriated the irate supporters.
