GLICO has presented a cheque for GH 8,000 Ghana Cedis to the Black Stars in fulfillment of a pledge it made prior to the African Cup of Nations in South Africa earlier this year.
The insurance giants pledged to pay the Black Stars GH 2,000 Cedis per goal scored from the quarter finals stage of the African Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars beat Cape Verde 2:0 in the quarter finals, drew 1:1 with Burkina Faso after extra time before losing on penalties in the semi finals. They also lost 3:1 to Mali in the third-place play-off, bringing the total goals scored by the Black Stars from the quart finals to 4.
