Tennis: Kpodoh wins Interplast masters
Robert Kpodoh emerged as the overall winner at the maiden edition of the Interplast Masters Tennis Series.The Upcoming tennis star took home a cash prize of 5000 dollars after a two set victory over an aggressive under-card George Darko by a 6-4, 6-1 score at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Kpodo began well with some delightful heavy serves to bag a lead. Darko depended on his power serves and desire to come back from to level matters and went on to win the next two serves, to a tie of break 3-1.
Kpodo continued his persistence in the game to wrap the first set 6-4 score. Darko's performance had surprised all and sundry present to astonishingly layed back miserably in the second set only to score a point with the eventual winner running away with a 6-1 win.
Robert Kpodoh also lifted the main trophy as part of his prize package whilst George Darko was consoled with 2500 dollars and a trophy. Albert Arthur of the National Sports College in Winneba came third and also took home 1000 dollars whilst Jeff Bagerbaseh won 1000 cedis for placing fourth.
