Accra, Apr. 4, GNA - The semi-finalists of the Interplast Top '16' Tennis championship has emerged.
The quartet was decided after the quarter-final games on Thursday at the Accra Sports. The four Albert Arthur, Robert Kpodo, George Darko and Jeff Bagerbash have all had stints with the junior national teams.
Arthur, of the National Sports College-Winneba (NSC-W) made mince meat of Wisdom Na-Adjrago 6-4, 6-2; to book a date with Kpodo, who saw off Raymond Hayford. Kpodo won the first set 6-1 before Hayford retired in the course of the second set.
George Darko brushed aside Ofosu Bamfo in a battle of brothers, 3-6, 6-3 whilst the latter retired just before the third set.
Bagerbash, also NSC-W defeated Isaac Nortey, who has just returned from Kenya on a national assignment 6-2, 6-4.
Darko and Bagerbash will face-off in the other semi final billed for Friday, April 4 for a place in Saturday's (April 6) final.
The final stage of the tournament featured the Top 16 players from qualifiers in Kumasi and Winneba last month.
At stake is a 10,000 Cedis prize for the winner and 5,000 Cedis for the losing finalist. Third place go for 2,000 Cedis and 1,000 Cedis for the fourth-placed player.
