Cape Coast, Dec. 7, GNA- The national first division sub-middle league match between Maamobi Midtjyland and Ho Home Stars played at Cape Coast on Saturday ended abruptly in the 83rd minute when players and supporters of Midtjyland went on the rampage and assaulted referee Samuel Annor who handled the match.

At the time of the incident the scores were 1-1.

It all started when class one referee Annor disallowed a goal scored by Midtdjyland's centre half, Tajudeen Labaran in the 81st minute which was followed by protests from the players but the referee stood his grounds.

In the process, referee Annor was booted down and both players and supporters of Midtjyland brutally assaulted him and likewise showed no mercy to policemen on duty.

The police however managed to rescue the referee and kept him at the sports council office.

Meanwhile, Mr Joe Ayivor, chairman of Ho Home Stars has appealed to Ghana Football Association (GFA) to award them the three points and three goals at stake since they did not cause the abrupt end of the match.
