Kumasi, March 7, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko trounced visiting Division two side, Japekrom FC, 5-0 in their round of 64 outstanding match of the MTN/FA Cup competition played on Thursday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The Porcupine Warriors recorded three of their goals in the first half with Lukeman Kasim scoring in the first minute, while Kofi Nti Boakye hit a brace in the 41st and 45th minute.
Japekrom commenced the second half with determination and nearly found the back of the net from a counter attack, however, striker Issaka Awudu's long range shot missed the target narrowly.
Kotoko, let off the hook, reorganized themselves in midfield and began to pile up pressure on the visitors.
This yielded dividends as substitute Ransford Osei scored the fourth goal for the homers in the 48th minute, and in the 64th minute Nurudeen Ali sealed the doom of the visitors by registering the fifth goal.
Kotoko has qualified to the round of 32 where they are scheduled to meet Agbozume Weavers on Monday, March 11 in Ho.
