Having been at the receiving end for decades, Ghanaian UK-based tennis star Eric Amoah has decided to give back to the sport that took him to the top.

And come April 6, Amoah will team up with Alordia Promotion, West Coast and Seven Great Princesses Academy to organize a special tennis championship themed, 'Eric Amoah Gives Back Open Tennis' at the RLG/Hathiramani Sports Hall, Accra Stadium.

He told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS from his UK base, 'Tennis has been of tremendous help to me and many of those I started with, and I think this is an opportune time to give back to the sport that took me to the top.

'Back in the day, tournaments like what I will be organizing drew players from across the country and it really produced great players.

I think the sport is not as before development wise, hence this initiative to restore the lost glory. I believe there are still talents yet untapped and this initiative will compliment what the Association is doing.'

Amoah, a former key performer for the national side, Black Loopers, promised to annualize the competition which in the long run will serve as a platform to nurture players for international competitions.

At stake for the winners are special ITF bats worth hundreds of Cedis and trophies.
