Barely a year after he was booted out of the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association, through elections, Kudjoe Fianoo, Thursday stormed back to the powerful executive arm of the sport’s national governing body after winning the bye elections to replace the late Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, one of the Premier League’s representatives who died two months ago.

The veteran football administrator, who is also the CEO of Premier League side, Ashantigold won with 10 votes, after beating Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s Kwame Baah-Nuakoh who polled four votes, and J.F. Mensah of Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs.

The return of Fianoo, one of the oldest faces in the corridors of Ghana football, sets a fierce stage for the vice presidential slot of the GFA as he and Fred Crentsil, the chief executive of Accra Hearts of Oak, are being tipped as frontrunners for the position.

The vice president position became vacant in June this year, following the death of Jordan Anagblah who had been elected for the position last year.

Fianoo, who was elected to Executive Committee six years ago, lost his seat last year after a marathon elections which saw Randy Abbey, a former member of the Emergency Committee of the GFA, beat him by the slimest of margins.
