Asempa Fm “Gidi Pawa” Political Parties League: NDC and NPP record first wins

A special football commentary for political parties ahead of the December elections comes off every Wednesday on Asempa FM. The two leading political parties The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party(NPP)started on a clean note by winning their first games.

The new innovation by the head of sports team of Asempa Moses Antwi Benefo comes off every Wednesday from 9:30-10:00 AM with live commentaries from all the selected venues.

MATCH REPORT: NDC VS CPP
President John Dramani Mahama, skipper of the side opened the scores in the early part of the first half after a beautiful solo effort to put his Party in the lead. Flag bearer of the CPP Dr. Abu Sakara and his men kept piling pressure for an equalizer but the NDC defense kept thwarting their efforts to end the first half with just a goal.

The second half resumed with equal exchanges until in the 70th minute when CPP Kwesi Pratt was brought down in the penalty box by Yaw Boateng Gyan who was given a straight red card with the resultant penalty beautifully converted by Dr. Abu Sakara putting the scores at 1-1.

The NDC tactically changed their game plan under the tutelage of Hon. Clement Humado, the Head Coach of the team and started invading the goal area of the CPP. Kwadwo Twum Boafo, C.E.O of the Ghana Free Zones Board finished one of those brilliant moves with a splendid volley making it 2-1 in favour of the NDC.

Newly appointed Veep of the NDC, H.E Amissah Arthur sealed victory for the NDC on the stroke of full time with a clinical header after an in-swinger from Peter Otukonnor. President John Dramani Mahama with his witty and mercurial skills at the heart of attack for the NDC and a goal easily made him the Most Valuable Player of the match.

MATCH REPORT: NPP VS NDP
New Patriotic Party silenced the National Democratic Party with a goal in each half from the Flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.

The NPP spotting their white top with red blue stripes and blue shorts with blue socks to match began the game on a swift note with beautiful inter-positional play in the midfield.

The NPP continued to mount pressure on the home side NDP creating so many chances but Saint Osei, goalkeeper of the NDP stood tall in all those instances.

But after a perfect combination between Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and Dr.Mahmud Bawumia, the Flag bearer of the NPP rounded up three defenders of the NDP before slotting in the ball at the blind side of Saint Osei to make it one nil in the 32nd minute.

The exchanges continued until Referee Charles Dowuona whistled for the end of the first half with the scores 1-0 in favour of the NPP.

The National Democratic Party began the second half strongly after player/coach Dr. Josiah Ayeh's half time pep talk.

NDP winger, Owusu Bempa affectionately called “Apapo” in one of his surging runs down the right wing after Dr. Josiah Ayeh had put him through was elbowed by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.

Referee Charles Dowuona gave rugged midfielder Hon. Kennedy Agyapong his marching off orders but the NDP failed to capitalize on the numerical advantage.

After a barrage of attacks from the NDP, the NPP took control of the game again with the tormentor –in-Chief, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo forcing numerous saves from Saint Osei.

Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo wrapped up victory for the NPP from a spectacular free kick in the 89th minute after Alan Kyeremanteng had been whacked down by Josiah Ayeh just in front of the NDP's penalty box.

Fifa Referee Charles Dowuona finally blew his whistle for the end of the game three minutes after the NPP had scored their second goal.

Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match.

MATCH REPORT: PNC VS PPP
Elsewhere at the Wa Park, the People's National Convention failed to make their home advantage count as they drew with the Progressive People's Party. Near misses from both Hassan Ayariga and Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, flag bearers of the PNC and PPP respectively ensured that the game ended barren.

The two parties however treated fans that thronged the Wa Park with good football display devoid of rough play.Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match.
