I Have Nothing Against Kotoko…Bekoe Declares

Former Asante Kotoko forward Eric Bekoe has revealed that he has no hard feelings against the Red Army though his desire to rejoin them had failed to materialize.

The reigning Ghana champions did not include the striker in their plans for the coming season owing to transfer complications and an alleged knee injury on the part of the player.

But the former Petrojet star,  now with Berekum Chelsea after signing a two-year contract, said Kotoko still remained his idol club. He however sounded a warning that his predatory instincts would be in full display when the two clash, even in a friendly match.

Bekoe praised Chelsea Director Emmanuel Kyeremeh for reposing confidence in and signing him to relaunch his career, mentioning on Happy FM: 'I thank God for the life of Mr Kyeremeh. He has eagle eyes for good players. He has demonstrated that he cherishes talent, and I will do all I could to pay him back by giving my best shot.'

In his response to whether he would make a U-turn should Kotoko approach him in future, he said, 'That will depend on Mr Kyeremeh.'

The former Liberty Professionals and Lions forward described his alleged knee injury problem as unfortunate.

To him, he had never experienced a knee problem in his entire football career, so he saw no logic in Kotoko's refusal to resign him on injury grounds.

'On what basis did the doctor declare me unfit? I have never experienced a knee injury throughout my career. Petroject have one of the best medical practitioners in the world but they didn't see anything wrong with my knee.

'I played three games for Kotoko and scored two on my return, so I don't understand the whole issue. My mum, who is my 'serious' girl friend is happy about the Chelsea move because I am the breadwinner for the family,' Bekoe added.

He explained his return to the local scene as normal, saying, 'If great players like Ronaldinho retraced their roots, I see nothing wrong with players going back to their roots.'

He thanked Kotoko's Jerry Asare (Show Show) and Alhaji Lamin for their relentless efforts in his progress as well as their determination to see him rejoin the Red Army.
