Hello TSOTSOO, greetings from me TSOTSOO, and the other TSOTSOO (Dada Ansong). It’s been quite a while since you left. Whilst we have been used to your frequent travels (both business and pleasure), this trip looks to last a lifetime, for which we have to brace ourselves for this eternal absence.

A year ago we set off from Accra at dawn to Cape Coast (with Coach George Lamptey at the wheels) to, like you aptly put it, take the time off our heavy schedules to go and enjoy ‘small’ at the Afahye festival. This was barely two weeks after we had returned from Nairobi on a business trip.

During the journey on that fateful day you were your usual self, sharing jokes with us interspersed with a long distance call from Borbor then in Rwanda.

Clad in a sporting white top and three-quarter short, there was no indication of any mishap befalling any of us on the said trip. But alas! It is now history and we have to live with it, painful though it is.

Since you have been away, we have also lost colleagues like Jordan Anagblah, Kosovo (GHALCA) Hon. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Nana Ntiri Dankyi, and recently H.E President J.E.A Mills.

We still talk about you anytime we meet; Dada Ansong, Papse, George Afriyie, Uncle Nab, Felix Abayateye and Ashford Oku will recount our wild escapades with fond memories. We have really missed your company, your infectious smile, and your exceptional skills as a mid-fielder, a position the two of us ‘strongly’ competed for at Liberty Oldies.

TSOTSOO, for the past year I have pasted your picture at the back of my car for which through my driving mirror, I kept you on my mind every day. I have also not been able to attend both the Liberty Oldies training sessions and Scarp Rangers training sessions since you left, because of the painful memories that come to mind.

I am hoping that after a year I will now be able to get myself mentally organised to get on with life.

It has not been easy losing a very true friend.
Tsotsoo, Obaa gbemi
