The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has descended on Ghanaian football managers for allowing the craze for money to sell young immature players to foreign clubs for a pittance.

The practice, he noted, had led to the destruction of the promising careers of a number of such players.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by the occupant of the Asante Silver Stool, Mamponghene Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, at the 20111.2012 Professional League Board (PLB) awards in Kumasi Sunday night, Otumfuo said “It is therefore important for football administrators to allow the players to mature at home before transferring them in order to save their future.”

Otumfuo also condemned the violence recorded at some of the league centres in the just ended season and urged the GFA and the PLB to remain tough on offenders.

It is disgusting to see offending teams and their supporters sometimes left off the hook, the Asantehene, said, stressing that such situation hardens hooligans to do worse things in future.

To the Asantehene, it was important for the Ghanaian authorities to take lessons from the ongoing UEFA nations tournament where some hooligans were punished under the existing laws without any delay.
