Reisso& Co 2nd Presidents's Open Chess Tournament

The Ghana Chess Association, under the auspices of the National Sports Authority in partnership with the Reisso& Co Gh.Ltd organised and hosted the 2012 Reisso& Co 2nd President's Open Chess Tournament at the media centre from 16th to 17th June, 2012.

The tournament formed part of the 60th Anniversary of the said company. It also serve as training grounds for the senior national chess team,who will be travelling to Turkey for the forth coming chess Olympiad scheduled from the 27th August to 10th September, 2012.

The association also took advantage of the ongoing ECOWAS GAMES to attract spectators from the 10 Nations, who are competing for laurels to come witness the chess tournament at their free times.

A total of 30 players participated from both Ghana and Ivory coast and a total of 7 games were played in all with a time control of 1 hour per player for each game.

At the end of the tournament, here are the results:

1st - Hermann Manan (Ivory Coast)
2nd - Hasford Kojo (Ghana)
3rd - Thompson Edward Nii Lamptey (Ghana)

The Ghana Chess Association takes this opportunity to express its profound gratitude to the CEO of Reisso& Co, Mr. Peter Vanderwuff, who showed his benevolence in sponsoring the tournament and also to Mr.Wolanyo Agra, Director General of the National Sports Authority for his continue support in the development and promotion of mind sports in the country.
