Accra, May 28, GNA – The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has congratulated Kumasi Asante Kotoko for winning the 2011/2012 Premier league.
A statement from the secretariat of the Association said the success of Kotoko at the end of the just- ended season was a clear demonstration of good managerial skills and personal commitment on the part of the playing body.
According to the statement, Kotoko had also demonstrated that they are indeed giants in Ghana football and relevant to the development of the game in the country.
It urged the team to remain focused and not to be swayed by the success, knowing the task ahead could be more daunting.
“As representatives at the next Confederation Africa Football (CAF) Champions League competition, we are convinced that you would take steps to build a more formidable squad for the competition.
“We have no doubt that the club is experienced enough to make the desired impact at the continental competition. And we believe with an improved level of commitment and dedication, you would rewrite your history on the continent,” the statement added.
Kotoko were last Sunday crowned winners of the 2011/12 Premier League Champions after the 30th week league matches played over the weekend.
The league success is the 21st in the history of Kotoko in Ghana football, making it the only club with the highest number of league trophies.
