Accra-based Golden Mike Promotions has stated that their upcoming promotion on Saturday will be successful absence of Joseph Agbeko will take nothing away from the upcoming fight night at the El-Wak Stadium. This comes after the confirmation that the scheduled IBO title bout between Agbeko and Philipino Michael Domingo had been taken off the bill.
In an interview with Joy Sports, Mike Tetteh who heads Golden Mike Promotions said “it will not take anything away from Saturday's fights. The boxers are ready to give fans a good fight. Two of the opponents arrived yesterday and are fired up to cause an upset,” on the night.
The cancellation of Agbeko's bout was as a result of weeks of disagreements between Agbeko's camp and that of Golden Mike Promotions to agree on certain terms for the fight night which will also be without WBO Africa Champion Brimah Kamoko, the Bukom Banku. The former IBF bantamweight champion is expected to make a formal announcement of this within the next 48 hours. Golden Mike Promotions has settled on Joshua Okine the Bukom Tsatsu to headline the bill with his Uruguayan opponent Rafael Sosa Pintos in a light middleweight contest.
Joshua Okine won the nation's first boxing reality show, the Last Warrior in 2007 has gone ahead to win the IBF intercontinental welterweight title which is his biggest achievement to date. His trainer, Alloway, tells Joy Sports his boxer is ready to thrill the fans on May 26 at the El-EWak Stadium.
According to Mike Tetteh Rafel Sosa Pintos is full of confidence ahead of the bout. “He told me that he had heard a lot about Joshua Okine and wanted to prove to the Ghanaian boxer that he was better. So he wants Bukom Tsatsu to prepared himself for a tough fight,” the Accra-based promoter said.
The bill is also without Bukom Banku and Emmanuel Tagoe who have cancelled their contracts with Golden Mike.
Also on the bill will be former world champion, Alfred 'Cobra' Kotey who will face Frederick Lawson in a welterweight contest, while Samuel Amoako fights Ramon Esperanza of Paraguay in a lightweight contest. Former Commonwealth Champion, Obodai Sai will face hard-punching Ishmael Tetteh over 10 rounds. Ishmael Aryeetey and Odarlai Lamptey will slug it out in a featherweight contest while Isaac Owusu and Emanuel Quartey fight for the national featherweight title.
