Some Manchester city fans lost the glorious moments when they thought all hope was lost for them and left the stadium earlier to avoid rush and panic at the end of the game. The Etihad stadium witnessed history on Sunday when Man city beat QPR by 3-2 to clinch the title for the first time in 44 years.
Dozens of Man city supporters abandoned the team when it looked almost certain that they had lost the title to their rivals Man united. An anonymous city fan said “we heard a roar from the stadium and for sure we knew that a miracle is here and history is about to be made. Then came a second big roar shortly, and we all started jumping and cheering even though we did not know what was happening.” The city fan capped it all by saying “I will never abandon my team again.”
Manchester city started the day very slowly until Pablo Zabaleta's first goal of the season brought hope to the city fans. They mounted incessant attacks afterwards which yielded nothing. Djibril Cisse brought hope to QPR when he perfectly fired home a bouncing ball for the equalizer. QPR defended solidly as a unit and thwarted city's beautiful system of play. City's style of play got completely imploded when Jamie Mackie gave the visitors the lead on 66 minutes. QPR was set to carry the day with their stubborn defensive style until substitute Edin Dzeko powerfully headed home at close range in the 2nd minute of injury time. City were back in the game now praying for a miracle.
The visitors defended solidly even with ten men but broke down with Dzeko's goal. Sergio Aguero spoiled the party for the visitors when he classically powered home the winner in the nick of time to send the city fans wild. The Argentine who coupled as match winner and Euro sports man-of-the match is the son-in-law of the legendary Diego Amando Maradona. Aguero's goal will be remembered for years to come because it ended the 44-year spell of league title drought and brought Man city out of Man united's shadows.
