New Online Payment System Launched

A new online payment service that enhances electronic transactions and reduces the problems associated with physical shopping has been launched in Accra.

The service, i-wallet, was put together by Dream Oval Limited and spearheaded by a young group of Ghanaian entrepreneurs who are committed to revolutionalising e-commerce in the country.

With the i-wallet service, consumers are able to purchase products of any kind and anywhere in the comfort of their homes, offices while they wait patiently for delivery.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dream Oval, Mr Derry Dean Dadzie, told stakeholders and a section of the media that the i-wallet had come to expand the frontiers of local businesses whilst mitigating the inconveniences consumers had to undergo while purchasing one product or the other.

“This will provide great benefits for local businesses since they can now expand their market base across the country, keep shops open 24/7 and automate sales processes.

“In Ghana today, people are at times subjected to hours of traffic to purchase their goods and make household payments. No more. With i-wallet, any Ghanaian will be able to sit in the comfort of his/her home and purchase household goods, food, clothing, etc online and have them delivered at home as well as make payments without leaving their desk,” he said.

Mr Dadzie said “Ghana and Nigeria have this bad reputation for internet (business) transaction so we thought it better to do something that works within our country so that we can tell the story to other parts of the world.”

The Product Development Manager at Dream Oval, Claude Hutchful in a demonstration of how the i-wallet works said prospective users must first sign on to the platform on www.i-walletlive.com and top up their account with Airtel money after which they will be able to purchase products from companies which have signed onto the i-wallet service.

Mr Kofi Asamoah of the Engineering department assured prospective customers of the security guarantees of using i-wallet. He said the product had gone through rigorous authentication and authorisation formalities with a view to preventing fraudulent activities and hacking of the systems.
