Even though the finals of the FA Cup is many hurdles away, Division One club, Sporting Mirren, have set their sights on CAF Confederations Cup campaign next season and CEO of the club, Oloboi Commodore is confident the team will not chicken out like others who could not marshal the financial muscle to compete in the competition.
He told the Graphic Sports the club was on course to repeat what Nania FC achieved last season when they won the FA Cup.
“We are ready for the challenge, if we get the chance to play in Africa”, he said.
Last season, Nania FC achieved the unimaginable when they beat the big teams from the elite division to win the title, but unfortunately, financial difficulties forced them to pull out.
“I think we will win this cup and when we qualify for Africa, we will participate” Oloboi declared confidently in a post match interview after a 4-0 victory over Deportivo at the St Thomas Aquinas SHS park in Labone, Accra last Sunday.
Commodore stated that hard work had paid off and with God on their side, they were not far from annexing the FA Cup adding that “God help those who help themselves” and feel they had done enough to replicate Nania’s feat.
