Accra, April 29, GNA – Liberty Professionals humbled visiting AshantiGold 3-1 in their week 26 clash on Sunday at the Sly Tetteh Stadium, Dansoman.
Liberty led 2-0 at half time before making certain of the maximum points in the latter of the game.
The hosts shot into the lead on 13 minutes through Francis Morton who blasted home from close range before goalkeeper Daniel Adjei doubled the lead before half time from the spot.
Adjei converted his penalty past AshantiGold goalie Fatau Dauda after Ibrahima Camara was fouled in the penalty area by Eric Opoku.
The visitors lifted up their game but had to wait till the second half to come into the picture. Ivorian import Didier Kore reduced the deficit for his side with a spectacular volley which caught Adjeiff guard a minute into the second half.
Just as the visitors warmed themselves into the game, Liberty professionals killed the game through Latif Salifu nine minutes from time with a superb shot from close range.
AshantiGold had the better of the exchanges in the closing stages but failed to convert their dominance into goals.
