Black stars coach Akwasi Appiah is hoping to lure back midfielder Michael Essien back to the Black Stars.
Essien has not played for Ghana since January 2010, totaling 28 months away from national team football because of injuries and calling time off his international career temporarily.
Michael Essien's form at Chelsea is a worry to his managers and as a result, the midfielder is not getting the playing time his quality deserves.
But Akwasi Appiah in an interview with JOY Sports noted that, Essien will be key to his success as a coach of the Black Stars.
“Michael is a very good player and I will wish for his return to the team”.
“He's been of sometime after sustaining injuries in his service to Ghana”.
“I'm discussing with the FA so I can go and visit him (Essien) for a chat on a possible return to the team”.
Even before the dramatic turnaround in Chelsea's season which now sees them reach two major finals, the UEFA Champions league and the FA Cup, Essien never played regularly under Andre Villas Boas and things have not changed under caretaker manager Roberto Di Mateo.
