Headlights of vehicles at the weekend provided a form of “flood” lights for the successful completion of a day's football and volleyball tournament which ran deep into the night at the Ho Sports Stadium.
Though the car lights helped, enthusiasm and beauty of the games were not favourable as the spectators strained to enjoy the sports.
Some unscrupulous individuals also took advantage of the situation and stole the footballs that were being used in the games.
Some football fans have therefore called on government and the National Sports Authority to provide flood lights at the Ho Sports Stadium.
They said fixing of such lights should be part of major renovation of the 55-year old facility which had never seen any rehabilitation.
The government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has for some time now promised to construct a new sports complex for the Volta Region in Ho to support the School of Sports Medicine at the University of Health and Allied Sciences.
In March this year, Mr Clement Kofi Humado, Minister for Youth and Sports visited the site for the new sports complex and the Ho Sports Stadium and promised some renovation works at the Stadium.
