A long drawn festive season has passed as normal service resumes this weekend in the Glo Premier League.

The league would kick off its first games of the New Year with two matches scheduled for Saturday and the bulk fixed for Sunday on match-day-13.

New Edubiase will forget the absence of striker Emmanuel Baffour for the visit of Medeama to the Gyamfi Park.

The top scorer in the competition would travel out with the Black Stars for a pre-African Nations Cup camp in South Africa on Saturday, leaving the burden of the goal scoring duties on his colleagues.

Baffour has contributed to 11 of his club's 13 goals scored so far and Edubiase would be tested in his absence as Medeama aim to push up for a top four place in a game live on Metro TV at 3:00pm.

An all-relegation battle would be played out at the Accra Sports Stadium when Mighty Jets welcomes Bechem United to wrap up Saturday's fixtures.

Asante Kotoko will target a winning start to 2012 and keep their place at the summit when they host Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium after ending the previous year with a defeat.

Hearts of Oak, two points off the top will have a tough task maintaining the pressure when they play AshantiGold in Accra.

The Miners struggled in the previous year but would be hoping that the turn of the year might bring good fortune.

Champions, Berekum Chelsea travel to Wa to battle an in-form All Stars. After making a slow start, Chelsea have recovered to push for the summit as they remain in fourth place.

However, they might find a trip to the Upper West region a difficult ask at this time of the year considering the weather pattern presently.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Arsenal and Heart of Lions will clash in a 3:00pm fixture live on Metro TV.

Arsenal, who are fourth from bottom and are level on points with two of the sides in the relegation zone, will be under pressure to deliver the three points at home.

The Robert Mensah Stadium would host the game between Ebusua Dwarfs and Liberty Professionals.

Bottom side, Wassaman will take on Tema Youth at the Sekondi Stadium in a late kick at 6:15pm, live on SuperSport to wrap a busy weekend to the start of the New Year in the league.
