Afranie expecting the guards to change on Sunday

Accra, July 8, GNA - E K Afranie, Coach of Accra Great Olympics, the perennial under-dogs to the more illustrious local rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, has predicted a change in guards after Sunday's eighth week league match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking with GNA sports on Tuesday, the coach said for too long Olympics have played the second fiddle and this is the best time for the club to break the vicious circle and emerge as a potential league contender.

He said Sunday match would be a very exciting match as both sides have the men to do the job when the occasion demands. Coach Afranie said the team is very much determined to put the smiles back on the faces of their fans who have stood by them through some difficult times.

"Matches of this nature do have the ability to catapulting teams like us to levels to challenge for the ultimate which is in line for our plans for the year"

"The era where the so called big teams are always expected to win the league must come to an end since most of the teams in the league stand the chance of winning since the gap between them is not wide".

Coach Afranie said their recent President's Cup match against Hearts where they lost by two goals to nil cannot be used as a good yard stick to measure what would happen on Sunday since both teams used unregistered players who would not feature this time around.

He said even though Hearts are a good side with players who on any good day can trouble any side in the country, "I have the a feeling that this is going to be out turn".

"We are very focussed on wining and my boys response at training gives me the assurance that wonders would again happen on Sunday" Accra Great Olympics are currently placed fourth on the 16 team table and a win for them would move them to 15 points equal to Hearts.
