Ghana Olympic Committee donates to weightlifting team

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has donated energy drinks to the national weightlifting team to boost their preparations towards an Olympic qualifier next year.

The gesture of the GOC is to motivate the athletes to give off their best during the Olympic qualifiers scheduled for Nairobi, Kenya next March.

Professor Francis Dodoo, GOC President urged the weightlifters to take their training seriously to make a positive mark at the continental qualifier.

He pledged unflinching support to the weightlifting team and other national teams vying for places at the London 2012 Olympic Games to ensure they make an impact.

John Kofi Amuzu, Chairman of the Greater Accra Weightlifting Association commended the GOC for the timely support towards their preparations for the Kenya-bound qualifier.

Majeti Fetrie, Coach of the team also lauded the gesture of the GOC, which he noted will go a long way to boost their chances at the competition.

He assured that they will give off their best at the qualifier and raise high the flag of Ghana.
