Ghana's male senior national hockey team, the Black Sticks, bounced back into contention after losing to South Africa at the ongoing the All Africa Games in Bulawayo to beat the host, Zimbabwe, 6-0 in last Wednesday's group match.

The win notwithstanding, it was one match the Ghanaians wasted about 11 penalty corners and were reckless in front of goal. One of Ghana's three professional players based in Belgium, Salya Nsalbini, converted the 12th penalty corner to give the Black Sticks the opener on 19th minute.

Skipper Ebenezer Frimpong converted a penalty stroke on the 58 minute after Mathew Damali had scored the second in the 41st minute to put the Ghanaians in the driving seat.

Former SWAG Player of the Year, Elikem Akaba, scored twice on the 46th and 62nd minutes to make sure that the team was back in contention to fight for the sole ticket for the London 2012 Olympics.

But the match of the day was between leaders, South Africa and Egypt, who battled to a 2-2 drawn game. Egypt, fought from a goal down to draw 2-2 in a match that could easily pass as the final before the final.

The Kenyans were in devastating form, thrashing 'whipping boys', Morocco, 12-0.
