Basket Ball Tourney Rocks ICGC
A high profile basket competition is expected to rock the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Christ Temple basketball courts next Monday.
The event, arranged by Kwaku Amoaku, founder of African Youth Basketball Organization (AYBO), is the maiden edition and seeks among other things to build a national program that will produce players for the national basketball team.
And from June 13 to 17, the top 100 basketball players in the country would be categorized into three groups to battle for supremacy.
According to Amoaku, an American with Ghanaian parentage, the event would be an annual one to select players to represent the country at the international level.
'I want to start from somewhere although I am confronted with some challenges due to lack of sponsorship.
'I am targeting at raising a formidable side that will reign supreme on the continent and extend the dominance to the Olympics,' Amoaku, assistant coach of Miramar College of Santiago, added.
Now the head coach of two basketball teams, Coastal Elite and Top Gun, in the US, Amoaku pointed out that the program would be preceded by a clinic with the juveniles and later, a two-hour session for the youth.
At stake for those who would demonstrate exceptional brilliance in the five-day $3,000-sponsored basketball camp are quality T' shirts.
